A potent, long-acting synthetic SOMATOSTATIN octapeptide analog that inhibits secretion of growth hormone (SOMATOTROPIN) and is used to treat hormone-secreting tumors, DIABETES MELLITUS; HYPOTENSION, ORTHOSTATIC; HYPERINSULINISM; hypergastrinemia, and small bowel fistula.
